The FOCUS System

The Focus System is a bespoke product which has been developed, patented and manufactured exclusively by i3 to enable the installation of fibre optic cable within existing waste water networks. This is achieved by deploying a high fibre count cable, specifically developed to operate within the harsh environment of waste water networks, whilst maintaining the flow dynamics of such systems. By utilising waste water networks, cables are installed far deeper than conventional methods allow, making them far more secure and significantly reducing the risk of damage from construction work. Years of experience of deploying FOCUS in a variety of live environments and projects on a global basis has allowed us to develop innovative methodologies, installation techniques and specialised, unobtrusive cables and fixings through a combination of real life findings and extensive research & development.

  • Specially designed cable (specific gravity but no coil memory) lies flat in the sewer without obstructing it.

Technical Standards

  • Worldwide patent provides exclusivity - no other system can loose-lay cables in waste water pipes.
  • G652 D single mode, high density fibre cable is used - up to 432 fibres in our 20mm (0.8 in) diameter cable.
  • Our cables are steel wire armoured with HDPE (High Density Polyethylene), making them highly resistant to damage.
  • FOCUS can be installed in waste water systems as small as 150mm (6 in) and of various construction types.
